Urban Best Practices for Global Sustainability

Global Best Practices for Urban Sustainability

i-SUSTAIN is an urban strategy firm. Since 2003, we have researched and documented global best practices in urban sustainability. Through a combination of international delegations, compelling research and communication projects, and innovative events, i-SUSTAIN has had a significant impact in cities in the Pacific Northwest.

i-SUSTAIN’S clients include elected officials and public agency staff as well as public and private utility executives, real estate developers, architecture and landscape architecture firms, engineering firms, planning firms, and more. By exposing these influential and involved urban professionals to global best practices, i-SUSTAIN has helped to provide them with the information and knowledge they need to create policies and implement projects that increase the sustainability of their cities.

Scan|Design Foundation

Scan|Design Foundation funds the facilitation, introduction, and dissemination of Danish technological leadership and information to help inspire and promote applicable energy solutions in the US. We fund programs which take US government, civic, and business leaders to Denmark to observe and study the science and technology employed by Denmark in resolving issues such as transportation, city planning, governmental policy, and energy issues.

Pomegranate Center

The Pomegranate Center brings people together to build stronger communities. Through training, designing, and building alongside leaders and community members, we make neighborhoods more livable, sustainable, just and socially engaged. Our work is based on the core values of strong communities of place, collective creativity, and multiple victories where the best ideas solve more than one problem at the same time.

Center for Sustainable Infrastructure

The Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI), based at The Evergreen State College, champions a new public works paradigm, practice, and investment discipline in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. CSI links regional innovators, advocates sustainable best practices, and develops skilled professionals who will put these principles to work in infrastructure development. We envision a future where sustainable, resilient, and affordable infrastructure systems provide vital services accessible to all, supporting healthy, prosperous, beautiful, and cohesive communities.
