Global Best Practices in Urban Sustainability are outstanding solutions cities have found to the sustainable development challenge. They increase the well being of their citizens while reducing the use of resources and the negative impacts on the environment. They are ingenious, proven, and replicable, and they generally trascend borders. They are slowly becoming Urban Best Practices for Global Sustainability. So we just call them Best Practices.
We show them here categorized by Areas of focus for the ease of use of the general public. Nevertheless, they are unbounded and in general they serve multiple categories. For example Waste to Energy Plants are a great solution to the Waste problem, but also extract Energy that would otherwise be landfilled, so you will find them in both categories. Similarly, Greenroofs are a great solution to capture StormWater, to increase the insulation in buildings (Energy), and reduce the heat island effect in cities when used at a neighborhood scale (Land Use), so you will find them in all three categories.
